15 Ways To Easily Increase Your Facebook Business Page Likes

Facebook business page LIKES!

They’re probably on your mind constantly. “How to get more likes?”

Let’s clear up a misconception first. Likes and engagement should go together. Likes without engagement is a sign that you need to step backwards and think about how to structure your business correctly for online and social media.

Likes, by itself, is not the silver bullet to increasing your business.  It is however, a starting point for the Facebook business cycle, and should lead, if done correctly, to audience engagement.  It’s the authentic nature of the engagement process that eventually leads a potential client through your door to purchase your products or services.

Please don’t forget that. It’s really important. Many people get caught up in likes, but have little engagement, resulting in little or no actual business.

That brings me to my next point …

The LIKE. The Audience. The Customer

These three – the like, the audience, the customer, are synonymous of each other. You may think of a like as a mere number on your Facebook dashboard. That number actually represents your audience; A real person; A potential customer. They make up your business community.

Treat your audience with the respect that they deserve.

Engage and interact with them.
Give them the help they need.
Entertain them.
Do all this as your over arching social media strategy, and you’ll find that you’ll get the recognition to draw them and their friends to your business page. Once on your page, you have the opportunity to increase your community.

There is more to it that just treating people with respect and giving them what they need. The other side of the equation is from a purely operational and mechanical perspective.

I’ve compiled a list of 15 ways to increase the amount of likes on your Facebook business page. They are not in any specific order of priority, but each of them, should be woven into the operational fabric of your Facebook strategy.

Visit your fans and play with them on their turf. Periodically pay your fans a visit. Read their posts, like them and leave comments. Not only does that build relationships, but it also provides a way for their audience to visit your turf. If you grow your external presence (i.e. away from your page), others will notice you, become curious, and come visit you.
Join Interest groups and post to them. There is an endless supply of Facebook Interest groups that you can join. Find the group with your target market (one example for me – Vaughan Mompreneurs) and join the group. Some are closed others open. Some members may be experienced with social media marketing others may need to be educated. The key, however, is to find the groups where your content will resonate well with the respective audiences.

Don’t blatantly promote yourself. That’s a definite no-no! In fact, read the group rules carefully, and abide by them. I typically use a 90/10 rule for promotion – For every 9 posts I make, 1 is promotional. Give information away freely. Those that are interested will return to your page and possibly deposit a like.

Connect with other page and group mangers.Group and Page manager, just like yourself, offer you an avenue to their audience and future joint ventures. The one’s that understand the essence of social media marketing will be more than happy to get to know you. Get to know each other, develop a relationship and the rest will fall in place. You may find that you’ll share and promote each other’s posts, which magically draws an audience to your page.
Post original, high quality, relevant content.High quality content is still king on social media. When you post content that your audience literally devours, they will be back for more. When they come back for it and ‘like’ it, Facebook will inform their followers, potentially bringing them back to your page, and once on your page, you have the ability to get more likes.
Link your personal profile to your business page. When you engage with others on Facebook you typically leave a breadcrumb trail leading back to your personal profile. Make it easy for those that land on your personal profile to get to your business page, and link your work section to your personal profile. When you complete this loop, you increase the probability of your audience visiting your business page.
Place your Facebook business page link on your blog posts. Especially if you are a guest blogger (and if it’s part of your strategy), your posts should have a relevant link back to your Facebook Page. Those reading your post should be considered interested in your subject matter, and it’s sensible to offer that audience a method to get additional information and help by giving them the ability to link directly to your Facebook business page. Another like in the making.
Add a Facebook business page link to your eMail signature. Even though this sounds simplistic, email is still the defacto method of communicating with people. Setting up a clickable link in your email signature gives your email life, and your recipient the opportunity to obtain additional details about you. There are many situations where I have searched my inbox for an email address, knowing that I will find specific the contact information that person. When I do, and if their Facebook link is present, it’s just one click away from increasing a like.
Add a like box to your website. Many times your guests will arrive on your website/blog from a source other than your Facebook page. Give them the ability to interact with Facebook right on your site. Like boxes can be added to the end or beginning of posts, on separate pages, and if you are using WordPress, in the widget area. When they click on the like button, Facebook will inform their friends, giving you the opportunity to increase your business page audience.
Advertise a post on your page. Growing a business page organically is challenging. You should consider moving beyond the organic methods of attracting your audience to your business page. For a nominal fee (starting around $5), you can reach an audience other than your friends or fans. Find popular posts on your business page or construct a promotional post, and promote on Facebook.  Those clicking on the promoted posts will find themselves on your business page, giving you yet another opportunity to increase your likes.
Design a Facebook Business Card. Social media marketing must be combined with offline marketing to be 100% effective. Leave a Facebook business card with your offline audience for them to contact you later. The cards I’m eluding too are not the traditional business cards, but cards that are customized with your Facebook branding in mind. The look and feel of the business card will resemble your Facebook business page. You can see these cards in action at: http://us.moo.com/products/facebook-cards.html (Note: I have no affiliation with this site)
List your Facebook link in other social media profiles. If not yet, you’ll eventually be building a community on other social media properties, such as LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Make yourself accessible and place a Facebook link in each of your other social media profiles. This will give your audience a method to easily get to your Facebook business page, giving you an opportunity to increase your audience size.
Place “Like Me” text on your cover image. Facebook changed their terms of service that allows you to place a call to action on your business page cover image. You just need to meet their 20% text terms. This is a great way to incorporate “Like Me” text on your cover image, positioned just over the like button. This is straight forward process – you just have to understand the correct usage of the graphic design tools for your Facebook cover image.
Place links in your email course. If you offer an email course to your subscribers I highly recommend placing a link that is relevant to the content within your email course. By asking your course subscribers to like and leave a comment on your Facebook page increases the likelihood of growing your Facebook community.  As an example, one of my recent courses includes assignments and tasks that incorporate Facebook interaction.
Join a community that hosts Facebook Link Exchanges. There are many Facebook link exchange communities that you can join. It is a great way to meet new people too. Through these Facebook link exchanges you will be able to cross shares links, like, and be liked. Find new and different link exchange events to attend in order to diversify your audience.
Stay genuinely interested in your fans. The most important item (at least for me), is to be genuine, helpful, transparent, and authentic with your audience. Most of my business on social media started as a like, but came as a referral through a trusted relationship. The natural order, once the trust and authenticity is established, is that people will want to connect and interact with you. The result, besides potential business, is an increased audience on your Facebook business page.
So, there you go. Audience engagement is very important on your Facebook Business Page, but without the audience (the Likes) you will have no one to engage with.

The likes + engagement + trust set the stage for your business to reap the rewards of social media.

There are many other methods to obtain likes, but the above suggestions, if used correctly and wisely, will get you heading in the right direction, and increase your Facebook page likes.

Which are your favorite methods to increase likes? Add any that you feel should be a noteworthy mentions.
